Petition

Ever since the first day of collecting signatures for the petition, when we collected 630 signatures with queues forming of people waiting to sign, we have had an amazing response. We decided to stop at 5,012 signatures which are spread over 460 sheets!

The wording of the petition is as follows:

‘Chipping Barnet’s historic market is in danger of dying out because the inadequate ground surface that has been laid is simply not up to the job.
It is:
UNEVEN (try pushing a wheelchair, pushchair or wheeled shopper across it)

UNSAFE (easy to trip, especially if you are elderly)

UNHYGIENIC (can’t be cleaned)

The owners of this treasured, historic market have a responsibility to it and we the undersigned urge them to fulfill this by providing a proper tarmac surface NOW!’

The last sentence says it all.
